Great round up, and I think the path your own -- writing for writing's sake, not for "views" -- is ultimately more rewarding. And, stoked to see the Siddhartha shout!

As for clam linguine -- I don't have a go-to! My usual for clams is a base with garlic, onion -- some bacon or sausage if you have it -- maybe some tomatoes, salt, pepper flakes, deglaze with white wine, then throw the clams in, cover with more wine and steam until they're opened. You could remove the clams and further reduce the sauce, then serve over linguine... I bet that would be pretty good... or just serve along with some really good bread.
